Eid al-Fitr: Saudi Arabia declares Wednesday first day.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE have announced that Eid al-Fitr in these countries will be celebrated on July 6.
Authorities made the announcement on Monday evening after failing to sight the moon that marks the start of the three-day festival.
The starting day varies every year and from country to country depending on geographical location.
Eid al-Fitr means “festival of breaking the fast” and marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
Traditionally, it is celebrated for three days and is an official holiday in all Muslim-majority countries.

Around the time of the announcement, a suicide bombing was reported near a Shia mosque in Saudi Arabia’s Qatif city. No casualties other than the attacker were reported in the blast.
