Hirshabelle state president Mohamed Abdi Ware has arrived in the Galmudug state capital, Dusamareb, ahead of the Thursday 9th July conference bringing together leaders of the five regional states in Somalia.
The leaders will discuss the upcoming elections, the relations between their administrations and the federal government, security and the fight against extremist groups as well as the sticky issue of Banadir region’s representation.
The Thursday meeting comes after the National Security Council conference, which was called for by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and was scheduled to be held 5-8 July, failed to take off after Jubbaland and Puntland leaders refused to attend.
Meanwhile, Special protection forces from Puntland state have arrived in Dusamareb ahead of the arrival of the state’s president, Said Abdullahi Deni, in the town tomorrow.
Other troops are also expected to arrive from Kismayo for the protection of Jubbaland leader Ahmed Mohamed Islam aka Ahmed Madobe.
